Week 8 of the 2024 Schoolboy Rugby did have several surprises, however, at the U14A level there were not that many surprises as the schools were still busy settling into the rankings.

However, with an accuracy of only 77,419%, we do expect a few "upsets" during the next few weekends with the Wildeklawer Rugby Festival weekend the big test for the "overrated and underrated" schools.

Remember the movement of your team on the rankings is mostly affected by their opponents and the performance of the teams ranked 10-15 positions above and lower than your team.

With Monnas and Helpmekaar not in action the past weekend it was only Boland Landbou who climbed two positions in the top ten following a good 36-00 win over Bishops on the weekend.

For the 11-20 positions there was almost no action on the rankings with the most questions being asked about why Affies moved past Rondebosch although they lost to Paarl Gim. The answer is simple: Affies lost fewer ranking points than Rondebosch who lost 00-36 to Paul Roos.

The Movers in the 21-50 positions were EG Jansen (9), Queen's College (7), newcomer Wesvalia(6) and Pretoria Boys High (5). The big Shakers are Waterkloof (-8) who lost to EG Jansen Selborne College (-7) who lost to Queen's College.

The Movers in the 51-100 positions were Hans Moore (13), Potch Gim (10), Brandwag Uitenhage (7), Diamantveld (6) and Montana Bulls (5). The Shakers were extremely busy with Belville (-18), Heidelberg Volkies (-13), Muir College (-13) and Marais Viljoen (-8).
