We take a short preview of the matches of the Week 4 fixtures scheduled for the weekend in the KwaZulu Natal Region. KwaZulu Natal is off to a great start as several matches between the top contenders are scheduled, so expect some hard-fought battles with the margins close, very close.
KwaZulu Natal
Hilton vs Northwood
Hilton showed against Secunda two weeks ago that their 2024 crop might not be their best if measured against their teams of the past three to four years while Northwood on the other hand will be desperate to improve on their 2023 efforts, and according to sources they have been building their "dream team" during the past two years. It should be an interesting battle.
Kearsney vs DHS
Kearsney had a great start to their 2024 season with wins against Witteberg (17-05), Hentie Cilliers (41-14) and Maritzburg College (16-14) while DHS won against Ferrum at the Sarel Cilliers Festival and against Westville in a warmup game a week later. A lot is expected from DHS who have several players returning, and with Peter Engledow in charge, Kearsney will have to be at their best to beat DHS.
Maritzburgh vs Clifton
Maritzburg should cruise to an easy win.
Westville vs Michaelhouse
Michaelhouse lost 07-10 against Helpmekaar a week ago while Westville had a great start against Glenwood at the Voortrekker Pietermaritzburg Festival two weeks ago before losing to DHS in a warmup game a week later. This should be an interesting clash with Michaelhouse the early favourites.
