The action is strangely feeling as if it has lost most of its intensity following being spoilt by the top teams destroying each other, however, one sometimes forgets that the boys playing in lower leagues also experience the same feelings when they defend their schools' pride and honour. And the parents, mmmmm, exactly the same.
The trials and Craven Week selection always have a strange effect on the boys' performances and add injuries to some of the stars and some upsets are definately on the cards.
In the Western Cape it is well known that the Southern Suburbs' schools always, and I mean always, leave their best for the Whinelands schools.
Boland Landbou host SACS on Saturday and although they are still unbeaten against the Southern Suburbs' schools SACS may just be that banana peel. Despite losing three from five during the past few weeks they did show some improvement every week and their dismantling of Milnerton last weekend spells TROUBLE, however, the same can be said of Boland Landbou who is seemingly building for that season-ending clash against Oakdale. It should be Boland Landbou, however, ......
The BIG one this weekend is definately in Riversdale where the other Boere is awaiting a hurting Paarl Gim. Paarl Gim "lost" their way against a brilliant Paul Roos a week ago and will want to show everybody that they are still a threat for that elusive Number One crown. Oakdale on the other hand comes from a brilliant performance over Outeniqua and will be waiting to put another knife into the hurting and "vulnerable" Paarl Gim. This is going to be fast and merciless.
Boishaai is in a "difficult" mood and is improving every weekend. A win over Rondebosch could just change their season from a struggling one to an average season. However, Rondebosch has shown against Paarl Gim two weeks ago that despite an ugly loss to Milnerton they are a very good side and will definitely target Paarl Boishaai for that Paarl scalp of 2024.
The unbeaten Paul Roos will host Wynberg who will want to stop their two-match losing streak, however, .............
And then Charlies who is still unbeaten after ten matches will want to prove to the Boland selectors that they deserve more than the two boys in the Craven Week squad. The road back from Stellenbosch should be one full of song and Coke Zero.
