Springbok wing Pieter Rossouw announced an exciting schoolboy Summer Rugby Festival which will take place in December each year and hosted in Stellenbosch.
Rossouw decided to take hands with well-known Duitser Bosman with this festival aiming to aid the schools in their preparations for their next year's rugby season.
The festival will take place 5-11 December and the aim of the organisers is to attract 40 schools, with match fixtures aiming to allow schools to play against schools similar to their strengths and abilities.
Bosman said that Paarl Gimnasium, Paul Roos, Garsfontein, Monnas, Oakdale and Boland Landbou have already shown interest in attending.
In the past few years, schools had a 3–5-month pre-season with very limited exposure to well-organised matches, leading to schools having to go abroad to get quality competition at a significant cost.
The Six Gun Grill Summer Rugby Festival will allow the school to send a squad of players to experience ‘trial type’ conditions in an organised rugby festival, while enjoying the beautiful and iconic Stellenbosch over December.
For 2024 the focus of the festival will be on the under 19 groups for the 2025 season teams of 2025.
