Discussing the past weekend's schoolboy rugby in the Noordvaal will inevitably return to one game and that was the thriller played on "Die Plaas" between Affies and Grey College.
Fifteen thousand plus spectators and close to thirty thousand watched this match live, more than most of the URC matches could achieve. The match was initially dominated by the visitors with Affies claiming the first twenty-five minutes of the second half when they reduced Grey's lead to just 29-24. Thereafter, Grey took control once again to win with 43-29.
The match between KES and St John's resulted as expected in an "easy" win for KES who is having another brilliant year while St Stithians were made to work hard to beat Northcliff with 36-26.
In the Noordvaal Cup competition Garsfontein "recovered from their slip" against Monnas and dominated Menlopark to win 34-08. EG Jansen were made to work hard to beat Noordheuwel 19-18 while Waterkloof just beat Marais Viljoen 17-11. The match between Monnas and Middelburg HTS was "postponed" due to a flu outbreak in Middelburg that stopped most school sports events.
In the Noordvaal Plate competition, Montana and Eldoraigne showed that they are title contenders and although they had to work hard for their wins showed some great form in doing so. Montana beat Transvalia 20-19 while Eldoraigne beat Zwartkop 18-12.
Die Anker continued their brilliant form of the season and won against Alberton 45-16 in the Noordvaal Bowl competition.
