The Springboks secured an 18-12 win over a once again unlucky All Blacks, who lost once again a player to a yellow card during the final ten minutes of the match, which the Springboks used to score the winning points.
The first ten minutes of the test were played at a frenetic pace, with the Springboks dominating the early collisions, however, several unforced errors by the Springboks gave the All Blacks several attacking opportunities, which they used to apply relentless pressure on the Springboks defence.
The relentless battle continued between a fumbling Springbok team and a relentless ALL Blacks with Damian McKenzie converting two penalties to lead 06-00 after thirty minutes of play.
With the Springboks' attack running out of options, Handre Pollard converted a penalty to cut the All Blacks lead to 06-03 and ten minutes to play.
With the Springboks being completely dominated in all facets on the rugby field Damian McKenzie converted a third penalty with time up in the first half to extend the All Blacks lead to 09-03 going into the second half.
The Springboks made a much better start to the second half and after eight minutes of wave after wave of attacks, captain Siya Kolisi burst passed two tacklers to score the first try of the match to take the lead 10-09.
Minutes later Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu added a converted penalty to extend the Springboks' lead to 13-09, to which the All Blacks replied with a Damian McKenzie converted penalty, to reduce the Springboks' lead to just one point.
With seven minutes to play the All Blacks were once again shown a yellow card whereafter Malcolm Marx scored from the back of a lineout maul to extend the Springboks lead to 18-12 which was also the final score of the match.
