Reds Record First Win Against Force Since 2015

The Reds recorded their first win against the Western Force since 2015 with a 31-24 win at the Suncorp Stadium today. With this win the Reds, who are still unbeaten move to the top of the Super Rugby AU's competition log.

The first ten minutes of the first quarter produced no points. The Western Force was first to score in the tenth minute followed up by another just after the restart by the Reds. Seven minutes later the score was 14-7 with the Force in the lead with three great tries scored.

Two minutes into the second quarter saw the Reds levelled the score at 14-14. A game played at a brilliant pace at that stage. The Reds' third try was scored within 10 minutes from their first, with James O'Connor directing play with his foot like a seasoned orchestra conductor.

An intercept 80 meters try with two minutes to go in the first half, reduced the Reds lead to 21-19. The halftime score definately flatters the Western Force with the Reds in complete control for 28 minutes of the first half. The injury of Ian Prior of the Force who left the field after 13 minutes of play definately had a big impact.

It took only four minutes into the second half for the Reds to score their fourth try of the match. The rest of the third quarter was action-packed with the Reds in complete in control. No points were added for the rest of the third quarter. This resulted in the Reds leading with 28-19 with 20 minutes to go.

A yellow card to the Reds lead to a try to the Force which reduced the Reds lead to 28-24 with ten minutes to go. James O'Connor sealed the game with a dropgoal with 2 minutes left on the clock despite a desperate final three minutes from the Western Force. The Reds are still undefeated in the 2020 Super Rugby AU competition with this 21-24 win over the Western Force.

The Reds have a bye next weekend with the Western Force are set to play the Waratahs.
