Phakisa Pumas head coach Jimmy Stonehouse has according to media reports approached the Vodacom Bulls and Xerox Lions to assist the Pumas with loan players for the rest of the Currie Cup season.
Long-term injuries to key players like Ryan Nel (centre), Le Roux Roets (lock) and flyhalves Eddie Fouche and Marne Coetzee combined with several short-term injuries forced the Pumas to face the Cell C Sharks last weekend without eleven first-choice players.
At flyhalf, the injuries to Eddie Fouche, Marne Coetzee and Fiela Boshoff forced the Pumas to play their star fullback, Devon Williams at ten against the Cell C Sharks on Friday with catastrophic consequences.
The Vodacom Bulls released Kudzwai Dube and Eduan Swart to assist the Pumas at Prop. Dube was the captain of the Vodacom Bulls' u/21 team that won the SARU u/21 Championship.
Both players will be placed ten days in isolation on their arrival in Mbombela due to COVID19 protocol whereafter they will be able to join the Pumas' squad.
