Pieter-Steph du Toit has informed Western Province he cancel his contract with immediate effect. This following the "21-day" clause that was part of a survival plan which was formulated and agreed by bodies representing SA Rugby, MyPlayers (the players’ representative organisation), Sport Employees’ Unite (employees’ trade union) and the South African Rugby Employers’ Organisation (SAREO – representing the provincial unions).
Earlier this week it was "confirmed" that du Toit will honour his agreement but is apparently on his way to Japan or France. According to NETWERK24. Earlier this week du Toit confirmed to an employee of WP Rugby (Pty)Ltd that he is staying but WP Rugby confirmed that they did receive the necessary documents that du Toit is leaving. Efforts to convince du Toit to stay has up to now be fruitless.
Western Province also confirmed that flyhalf Jean-Luc du Plessis and lock Cobus Wiese also confirmed their departure.
