The third 1stXV game on the last day of the Noord/Suid Rugby Festival was between Paarl Boishaai and Monnas. The conditions were very cold and extremely wet and muddy underfoot. Monnas showed some excellent spirit after a surprising loss against Stellenber to come back and made Paarl Boishaai work hard for their 34-16 win.
10:25 A quality try by Boishaai's Ethan Isaacs who had to work extremely hard to score Booishaai's first try. (05-00)
12:11 Monnas replied immediately after they stormed down the kick from a Boishaai player with Tiaan Wessels falling on the ball to score Monnas first points (05-05).
18:19 Boishaai speed on the wing too much for the Monnas defence. Luke van Schoor ran a good 40 meters to score Boishaai's second try.
20:00 With 20 minutes gone in the 1st half these two super teams were still trying to dominate each other. Boishaai may just have the edge at this stage.
23:40 Monnas convert a penalty to close the gap to just two points (10-08).
28:19 A penalty try was awarded to Paarl Boishaai as Monnas caused a great driving maul from Boishaai to collapse. (17-08)
35:00 Boishaai is slowly taking control of the match as the game continues, however, Monnas are still 100% in the game and could still walk off the field as winners.
37:18 Cobus Louw added 3 points to Boishaai's score. (20-08)
46:33 Monnas chipping away at the Boishaai lead as Vermaak converts another penalty (20-11).
55:00 With 15 minutes to go the momentum has swung towards Monnas.
57:44 Boishaai immediately replied to my opinion as Compion von Ludwig score for Boishaai after some slick handling by their backline (27-11).
61:58 Boishaai now in 5th gear as they scored their 5th try to extend their lead to 34-11.
67:21 A well deserved try by Monnas but unfortunately not enough. (34-18)
Paarl Boishaai made to work hard to beat Monnas (34-18). Monnas slowly took control in the second half, however, two tries in quick succession by Paarl Boisshaai sealed the win. Unfortunately, unforced errors led to squandered scoring opportunities by Monnas.
Scorers:
Paarl Boisshaai: Tries: Ethan Isaacs, Luke van Schoor, Penalty try (7), Compion von Ludwig, Abulele Ndabambi. Conversions: Cobus Louw (2). Penalty: Cobus Louw.
Monnas: Tries: Tiaan Wessels, Zain Henery Conversion: Zevenster. Penalty: Sevenster (2)
