The DHL Stormers scored seven tries on their way to a 45-29 win against Northampton Saints in an entertaining exhibition game at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday.
Outscoring the Gallagher Premiership log leader by seven tries to five, there was plenty for the crowd to enjoy in a friendly match played in great spirits.
Head coach John Dobson said the DHL Stormers took plenty of experience and a good workout from their exhibition win (45-29) against Northampton Saints on Saturday at Franklin’s Gardens.
Quoted post-match after the clash at cinch Stadium on Saturday, Dobson highlighted the mood in the camp ahead of the upcoming busy period.
“I know it is not the same competition or level of importance, we are very pleased with the experience and the outcome,” Dobson said.
“That is important, as we tackle what is going to be a very tough couple of weeks. We are very pleased with the experience and the outcome."
The DHL Stormers will face Edinburgh and Ulster at home before a Round of 16 Champions Cup face-off with French giants and two-time defending champions Stade Rochelais.
“For us to get that outcome and play as we did, the fluency, attack, attacking kicks and turnovers, was very pleasing.”
“It is one of the bastions of English rugby, a rugby town with proud traditions,” Dobson said.
“Happy to get the win, after they came back at us. We managed to take it away nicely at the end."
“Our intensity and work rate were impressive and it was very special for us.”
