The Toyota Cheetahs are the new Currie Cup log leaders following a comprehensive 33-10 bonus point win against the NovaVit Griffons in Bloemfontein.
The kick-off was delayed for 15 minutes, however, further lighting precautions resulted in the game only starting at 21:30.
The visitors scored the opening points of the match with a converted penalty after 17 minutes of play, however, the Toyota Cheetahs struck back almost immediately and scored two quick tries, by Daniel Maartens and Tapiwa Mafura, to lead 14-03.
Tapiwa Mafura score his second try with three minutes left to play in the first half. The Cheetahs extended their lead to 21-03 which was also the halftime score.
It took Daniel Maartens 14 minutes in the second half to score the Toyota Cheetahs' fourth and bonus point try, however, five minutes later the NovaVit Griffons scored their first and only try of the match when fullback Duren Hoffman scored.
The wet conditions did not make it easy for the players and with two minutes left to play in the match, Evardi Boshoff scored the Toyota Cheetahs’ fifth and final try.
