Who Can Forget 2016 x 2?

Who will or want to forget the two epic games in 2016 where Helpmekaar hosted Garsfontein and had to steal all the bathroom furniture to beat Garsfontein 24-17 and 23-22. Garsfontein Beeld winners in the Macro Division and Helpmekaar the winners of the Big Schools Division. This year Helmekaar travels to Garsfontein with Helpmekaar ranked #3 and Garsfontein #11 but on the day this will not count for anything. Both sides do not have the biggest of forwards but Garsfontein has shown on several occasion that they do not shy away from a physical challenge with the battle against Boland Landbou at the Noord vs South Festival where Garsfontein came out in the second half dominating the big forwards of Boland Landbou. Both sides have explosive runners capable of tearing the best defence apart and here lies the recipe for the victory, defence.

Oos Moot meets Midstream in a match that will decide the Big School's Champion for the Bulls league. Although Midstream has a good team I can not see anyone beating Oos Moot than Helpmekaar in the finals. In a very important match, Wonderboom and Eldoraigne meet on Saturday which should decide the runner-up in the Macro B league in Bulls country. This will qualify the winner of this match to play against Centurion for a place in the Macro Schools playoffs or if the appeal from Centurion and Eldoraigne is granted the winner of this match may proceed into the playoffs.without playing against Centurion.

Pretoria Boys High is hosting St John's on Saturday that could be a brilliant match to attend. Boys High that is improving with every match comes up against one of the better sides that St John's have had in the recent past. St John's should take this one but as I said Pretoria Boys High improving and with that comes confidence and that makes this game a match that could go either way.

Centurion vs John Vorster HTS, Ligbron vs Piet Retief and Noordheuwel vs Jeugland should remind us once again of the shortcomings in fixtures between schools being kept the same year after year. The KES vs St Benedict's will hopefully stop just short of that.

Affies vs Waterkloof is according to some people a formality BUT after the Helpies vs Waterkloof game a very clever man analysed the game and his conclusion was that Waterkloof was in "control" in the second half and only a massive defensive effort from Helpmekaar and crucial turnovers on the ground denied them deserving points. Affies losing players now on a weekly basis might just be ready to be hunted and shot. My heart Affies but that kokkerot is at it again.
