News Other – Hacjivah Dayimani To Be Tested At Wing

DHL Stormers assistant coach Dawie Snyman confirmed on Thursday that loose forward Hacjivah Dayimani will be used on the wing in Saturday’s friendly against Northampton Saints in the second half.

“An interesting one is that we are going to have Hacjivah getting a crack on the wing. He will play there in the second half and it’s just about giving him that opportunity because we do go six-two (split on the bench) a lot when we play."

“So, if there is a crisis, we know that he can cover us in that position.”

“We have enough quality players in that position, but it can happen that you will need it in a match. If you look at where Hacjivah gets most of his opportunities to carry, it’s in those channels."

“If you look at where Hacjivah gets most of his opportunities [with carries], it is in those channels.

“We are allowing him to play with guys like Dan du Plessis and Warrick."

“We want our loose forwards to combine well with our backline players because we have so much speed in our loose trio.

“It’s a bit of a combination thing, but it’s also about knowing that if we do need cover in that position, then he can do the job for us.”

“We have an idea for most of the players. We probably won’t use rolling subs, if it’s not necessary. As a player you get into a rhythm, so say a guy like Brok [Harris] plays 40 minutes and the next guy plays 40. But if someone gets injured, then at least we can put someone back on."

“There is definitely a plan for the guys.”
