Former SA Schools captain and Jeppe High School's head boy Muzi Manyike's family issued a media statement confirming his death earlier today. Muzi disappeared on 18 November 2020.
The 20-year-old utility back, who played most of his schoolboy rugby at centre, also represented South Africa’s U17 and U18 sevens team, winning the Capricorn sevens tournament in Windhoek in 2016.
"As a family, we confirm the passing of Muzi Manyike who was last seen on 18 November 2020. His body was identified by the family at the Garankuwa Mortuary on 15 February 2021. According to the mortuary records, he was found dead on R101 near Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria, on 20 November 2020. The cause of his death is still not clear. The family is working with the SAPS to establish the circumstances surrounding his death. We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the society."
