Munster moved 11 points clear in Conference B of PRO14 as their extended winning streak extended to six consecutive wins this season with a clinical 27-13 win over Glasgow Warriors on Monday night.
Johann van Graan’s side continued their unbeaten run to record their first win at the Scotstoun since 2016 as Jean Kleyn found himself on the scorers' list with a second-half try to continue their exceptional start to the season.
Munster now finds themselves on 27 points, 11 ahead of second-placed Scarlets as they continue to dominate the one half of the competition.
An excellent performance by Damien de Allende and some good work in the last 20 minutes by the Munster side saw them pull away from Glasgow to ensure victory.
The win was one in a clean sweep for Irish teams in the competition as their dominance of PRO14 continues.
Leinster continued their search for a fourth consecutive title with a 40-5 win over the Cardiff Blues while Ulster also continued their unbeaten march with a close 26-24 win over the Scarlets to help the two sides pull away in Conference A.
Leinster are on 35 points with seven wins from seven, while Ulster matches their unbeaten run this season but have two fewer bonus points to be on 33 points. Ulster is, however, a massive 20 points ahead of third-placed Ospreys, who have 13 points this season, and it would be easy to say the two playoff spots in the conference are all but sewn up.
Scarlets were left to rue missed kicks at goal as Ulster held onto the lead to take the victory, although it was not as comprehensive as their other games this season, while Leinster looked classy as they continued to cruise through the competition.
Leinster scrumhalf Luke McGrath put in an inspired performance of the champions as they weren’t really troubled by the Blues.
Connacht completed the clean sweep for Irish sides and moved into the third spot in conference B, one point behind Scarlets with a game less played than the Welsh side, as they inflicted a 47-12 massacre of Italian side Zebre.
Sean O’Brien scored in his first game in two years for the province as it turned the tide in the Irish side’s favour and sent them to an emphatic victory.
In the weekend’s other game, a last-gasp try by Dewi Lake gave the Ospreys a hard-fought 24-22 win over Benetton to end the Welsh side’s three-game losing streak.
The late try was preceded by a stunner by scrumhalf Shaun Venter, who scored a crucial try with time running out to give the Welsh side a chance. And Lake took it to break Italian hearts.
