Menlopark To Cut Glenwood To Size?

KwaZulu-Natal is often looked down on by the elite in the schoolboy rugby fraternity claiming that the rugby played by their sides is not up to the same quality of the rest of South Africa. This year several schools from KZN has made their intentions clear to rebuild their rugby to one of the best in South Africa.

Glenwood who has already beaten the best of the other KZN teams faces one of the schools from Gauteng who is also rebuilding their rugby to new heights. Menlopark who's season has been fairly successful with losses only against Garsfontein, Stellenberg and Marlow all top 20 teams, will travel to Durban to test them against a very good Glenwood side. In Menlo's loss against Stellenberg Menlo did show a weakness against schools who take them on up front and Glenwood do possess a big pack, however to set them up wide will not help and Glenwood need to put Menlopark under pressure up front close to the rucks. No cooling down out wide for the bigs guys. Glenwood's potent backline should also have the better of Menlopark's but this time they will face a backline who plays a similar game than that of Paarl Gim's and this is where things can go horribly wrong for Glenwood. But after everything said Glenwood must be the favourite to win this one and cement their place in the top 10.

Kearsney's impressive season has taken some sort of a nosedive after their two losses in the last two weaks against Michaelhouse and Glenwood. They take on a DHS team that is blowing hot and cold the whole season but having won their last four matches icluding Michaelhouse will travel to Kearsney with some confidence. If the selection of the provisional Craven Week trial side is any indication, DHS with twelfe boys selected against the nine of Kearsney must be the favourite.

Maritzburg College is facing Michaelhouse at home and although they lost against KES in Johannesburg last weekend should still be the favourite to win this match even some would say that their rugby is not what everybody is used to. Michaelhouse who is not impressing this season losing 38-21 against Hilton last weekend will want to bring some credibility to their season but I doubt. While the match between Westville and Hilton should see Hilton earning interest on their recent splurge.
