St Andrew’s College hosted Marlow Agricultural High School on the weekend as we head into the last few fixtures of the year. It was a cold and blustery day in Grahamstown as the two Eastern Province Country District rivals went to battle.
The game was a stop start affair with both sides creating opportunities but not being able to capitalise on their momentum. Marlow took the early lead through a penalty and then scored a fortuitous try after charging down a clearance kick. College manage to get on the scoreboard after some great interplay by the backs before Daniel Tiffin rounded off the try. Marlow kicked another penalty on the stroke of half time and went into the break with an 11-7 lead.
The second half started with a bang as Matt More scored near the uprights after a good maul from the St Andrew’s College forwards. However the errors kept coming and neither side could gain dominance in the second half. With the time running out College conceded a penalty and Marlow duly converted the opportunity in order to level the scores.
The final result a 14 all draw. A fair reflection as both sides did not give an inch throughout the day.
