Affies is still unbeaten against Diamantveld after five fixtures. In 2016 Diamantveld was completely demolished in a one-sided affair losing 64 - 17.

After the first 10 minutes, it was clear that Affies came to win, spreading the ball wide at every opportunity. Charles Goedhals must be mentioned as he controlled the game from flyhalf and provided the players on his outside with plenty of quality ball. A lot was said regarding the speed in the Affies back line but the combination of 8,9 and 10 will win some close games during the rest of the season. Although it is early in the season one has to mention the forwards who was spending a lot of time in the Affies backline. This disrupted several try-scoring opportunities and allowed Diamantveld to defend against easy targets.

Jaco Dames and his management must give attention to the hectic schedule in the early part of the season. The match against Affies was the fourth of the season and I do feel that after playing Garsfontein on Tuesday in Pretoria before Affies is looking for trouble. The boys from Diamantveld showed a lot of determination and never gave up during the match. Their efforts in defence stopped a lot more tries and the score just maybe is not a true reflection of the game. Diamantveld is going to cause some serious upsets this season.

Affies tries were scored by Marnus Potgieter (3), Philip Potgieter (2), Jaco Labuschagne en Divhan du Preez. Diamantveld's only try was scored by De-an Ackerman after a magnificent solo effort.
