After the excitement of the Youth Weeks calmed down we are preparing ourselves for the last few weeks of schoolboy rugby of 2016. One of the highlights of this week must be the match between Maritzburg College and Affies taking place at Maritzburg College.

This fixture will celebrate its 21st year with Affies winning 18 of these games and Maritzburg only 3. A total of 27 teams will travel to Maritzburg College by bus this year.

But do not be fooled by the statistics or the results of 2016. As usual Maritzburg College's rugby will be at its best. Their game plan characterised by the rugged qualities and outstanding support work of its forwards, the hard running and punishing tackling of its backs and an eagerness to move the ball at every reasonable opportunity. Most notable, however, is the fierce determination and spirit typifying College teams and imbuing them with an indomitable will to win. They always keep their best for the Boere.

Affies on the other hand will want to run Maritzburg of their feet with their massive forwards and backs. A game plan that worked most of the times this year. Expect Maritzburg College to target the forwards to neutralise the dangerous Affies 15 man attack. Charles Goedhals will replace Affies' regular full back Christian Strydom, who was injured at the Academy week.
