Vodacom Bulls Tighthead prop Jaques van Rooyen was suspended for one week after he was given a red card in the game between Western Province and the Bulls.
The norm for a red-card offence is a two-week suspension, however, the SARU disciplinary committee found mitigating circumstances and suspended van Rooyen for only one-week.
The decision by the disciplinary committee can be interpreted as a vindication of the public's uproar after the decision of referee AJ Jacobs actions.
Van Rooyen will miss this weekends game against the Cheetahs at Loftus and will be available for selection for the Vodacom Bull's game against the Sharks in a week's time.
Van Rooyen is expected to be replaced with Gerhard Steenekamp with the Lizo Gqoboka's availability after a calve injury doubtful. Jan-Hendrik Wessels could make his first Currie Cup appearance on the bench if Gqoboka is not available.
