Hoërskool Monument 1stXV was ranked twenty-fifth at the end of the 2024 schoolboy rugby season. Monnas out of the Top 10 was simply unthinkable before the start of the 2024 season.
Monnas reacted quickly to the disappointing 2024 season and appointed Reinhardt Gerber, who represented the "Wit Bulle" in 1999 as their new Head of Rugby following the early cancellation of Tjaart van der Walt's contract. Springbok prop Jannie du Plessis was appointed as the head of coaching.
The new staff at Monnas Rugby must be given adequate time, 2-3 years, to turn the ship around. Those looking for easy wins against Monnas, I have some bad news. Monnas will continue to chase that win ten minutes after the fat lady has left the house. Schoolboy rugby in South Africa will be a lot poorer without Monnas in the Top 10.
Expect Monnas to play the usual Wit Bull rugby, with some exciting changes made to the game plan by Reinhardt Gerber and his coaching staff.
Monnas U16A was ranked seventeenth, U15A fourth and U14A seventeenth on the ruggas.co.za rankings at the end of the 2024 season.
Monnas had no players who attended the U16 EPD and U17 EPD camp.
