Kenia Edge The Blitzboks In Dubai

The Blitzboks lost 17-22 against Kenia in their second match of the Emirates Dubai SVNS. Kenia outplayed the Blitzboks in the first half to lead 17-00 at the halftime break.

The Blitzboks made several mistakes in the opening moments, leading to Kevin Wekesa scoring Kenia's first points of the match to lead 05-00 after two minutes of play in the first half. Three minutes later, the speed of Kenia's Nygel Pettersan Amaitsa was too much for the Blitbaks' defence to fall on the ball to extend Kenia's lead to 12-00. A minute later, Patrick Odongo Okong'O stepped several Blitzboks' defenders to give Kenia a 17-00 lead going into the second half.

The Blitzboks hit back with a great try by Tristan Leyds, who also converted to cut Kenia's lead to 17-07 after two minutes of play in the second half. Donovan Don added the Blitzboks' second try with three minutes to go, making it a five-point game. A late "try" by Tristan Leyds was disallowed with seconds to go, however, Kenia dropped the ball in their in-goal area and Tristan Leyds pounced to score his second try of the match.

In extra time Kenya struck back almost immediately when they followed up a grubber, and Nygel Pettersan Amaitsa scored the match-winner.
