Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival – Preview Day 2

There will be plenty to look forward to on the second day of the 2025 Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival tomorrow (Saturday), after an opening day that produced some cracking encounters.

The first matchup tomorrow pits HoërskoolDurbanville against Hoërskool Rustenburg. The Western Cape side put 10 tries past Dale College on Day 1, winning 66-22, and will look to take that momentum into their clash with a hurting Rustenburg outfit, thwarted 41-7 by Durban High School (DHS) in their opener.

In the second game, HoërskoolFramesby face the touring Zimbabwean outfit Peterhouse Boys’ School, the latter having copped a 34-18 reverse against Milnerton High in their first match. Framesby also lost out on Thursday, after being thumped 31-0 by Westville Boys’ High, and will be seeking improvement.

Next up on the fixture list sees Milnerton tackle Glenwood, with the Green Machine having played out a riveting 26-all draw with Hoërskool Monument. Neither side shied away from the physical stuff on the first day, making their tie a potentially explosive affair.

Westville then go up against Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen. The Boksburg boys got the better of hosts Kearsney 29-24 in a thrilling third match of day one, and will be eager to go two for two against another KZN school.

Kearsney College will be looking to avenge their 2023 KERF defeat by Dale when they host the Eastern Cape team again. The One Stripewill surely be focusing on their basics, after too many unforced errors cost them in their first game. Meanwhile, Dale will be looking to sort out their malfunctioning set piece if they’re to pose a real threat.

In the final action of Day 2, Monument and DHS collide in what should be another humdinger. DHS came out of the blocks firing in their first game with Rustenburg and will be a tough opposition for any team, even a formidable Witbullelineup.

To avoid queues, spectators can purchase prepaid tickets online through Quicket. Alternatively, they can be purchased on the day from the Kearsney College Road gate. Spectators are urged to pay by card or SnapScan. Entry is R45 per person, and children under six are free.

There will be ample parking, a fun KidZone for the little ones, as well as numerous food outlets and a field-side refreshment tent to ensure spectators can fully enjoy the weekend’s entertainment.

All games will be live-streamed via YouTube on the SuperSport Schools app.
