Wales will play the Junior Springboks for the Under-20 Six Nations Summer Series title after both sides finished their league rounds unbeaten. The final is scheduled for Tuesday 12 July at 21h00 in Treviso, Italy.
Undefeated in Pool A, South Africa secured safe passage to the Under-20 Six Nations Summer Series first-place play-off with a 42-27 win over France. They have also beaten England (30-22) and Ireland (33-24) earlier in the tournament.
Welsh captain Joe Hawkins sent his team through to the tournament showpiece with a late penalty in their last league match against Italy to win 23-20. Wales Scotland 45-14 and Georgia 30-24 earlier in the tournament.
The Junior Springboks should be the favourites to lift the trophy after the final as they are said to have the tournament’s strongest packs, with only one of their own scrums lost between them in the opening two matches while their backline is the tournament’s meanest attack.
