Zebre Parma have confirmed the departures of 13 members of their squad. This includes Johan Meyer, who has retired having made 100 appearances over eight seasons for the club as well as winning 14 caps for Italy.
Sports director Franco Tonni said: "In agreement with the FIR, in view of the next season we wanted to make a technical choice that would reduce the number of foreign athletes in the squad, favouring the release of most of those who did not meet the eligibility requirements for the selections of the Italian national team.
"We have reached an agreement with all these players for the conclusion of their experience with the Zebras, accepting the wishes of those who, for significant family reasons, have expressed the desire to return to their countries of origin.
Chris Cook, Erich Cronje, Joshua Furno, Gabriele Venditti, Jacques Du Toit, Richard Kriel, Matt Kvesic, Mattia Mazzanti, MJ Pelser, Jan Uys, Jacobus van Wyk and Dennis Visser are also leaving while forwards coach David Williams exits following the expiration of his contract.
"Our thanks go to each of them, as well as to David Williams, for the work they have done and best wishes for the future that awaits them. Hugs to Johan Meyer."
