Is The Varsity Cup Already A One-Horse Race?

Unfortunately, the Varsity Cup 2020 seems to be a one-horse race. Maties have already shown that they will not easily be dethroned. The wannabees at this stage must be TUKS, Ikeys and Wits, but if one has to be honest, it is just TUKS that have a hope to beat Maties in the final. However, it is a well-known fact that the depth of TUKS in 2020 is not what it used to be, and injuries to vital players could derail their challenge.

Tuks vs UJ

Tuks and UJ have two massive packs and this should make for some interesting rugby today. Expect the first fourty minutes to be a massive forward contest and low scoring.

The fitness levels of RAU as showed against Wits last weekend could ensure that the winner of this match will only be decided at the last 10 minutes of the game. Unfortunately Tuks should have too much in the tank and UJ will still be the favourite to be relegated at the end of the season.

Maties vs CUT

Although CUT gave TUKS a "scare" at home last weekend and lead 20-16 at half time, Maties at home will unfortunately be a completely different animal.

NWU vs Shimlas

Shimlas lost to the Ikeys last Monday with 22-31 in wet windy conditions while NWU also travelled to Cape Town to also lose with 28-29.

A lot at stake for these two teams as both will be looking for their first win of the season. NWU will be the favourites as they host the Shimlas but only a brave person will call this one.
