Scrumhalf Paul de Wet says that the DHL Stormers will be going all-out to make their supporters proud when they take on Munster at DHL Stadium on Saturday.
The DHL Stormers have an impressive home record in front of the Faithful, having racked up 19 straight wins at DHL Stadium since their last defeat on home soil in December 2021.
With two rounds to go in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, the defending champions are in second place on the overall standings with 61 points and poised to secure a home playoff.
Saturday will be fifth-placed Munster’s first-ever visit to Cape Town and De Wet says that he and his teammates would like to make it a memorable one at DHL Stadium.
“It is great to have Munster in Cape Town. We will defend the home record and continue to make our fans proud of the team,” he said.
De Wet says that the DHL Stormers will not shy away from the attacking style of rugby which has brought them so much success over the last two seasons.
“We pride ourselves on scoring tries and creating opportunities and can only do that with possession in hand,” he explained.
The only previous meeting between the two teams saw the DHL Stormers put together a scintillating first half at Thomond Park before Munster came roaring back to win it in the second half.
De Wet is looking forward to testing himself against a Munster team that is packed full of international quality.
“Munster is one of the top teams in the competition and they have a lot of internationals with a wealth of experience in the team,” he said.
The return of dynamic No 8 Evan Roos, who is back in training after a long lay-off, adds to the DHL Stormers’ gain-line arsenal in the absence of injured flanker Deon Fourie.
“Injuries are unfortunate but part of the game,” De Wet said.
“It is great to welcome back any injured player. The team needs depth in every position,” he added.
