The Springbok Women's Sevens hacked a dropped ball, on their own tryline, forward with Nadine Roos winning the race to open the scoring. Maria Tshiremba added a second try to open a 14-00 lead after five minutes of play. Spain struck back after time was already up to trail 07-14 at the halftime break.
Spain continued where they left off in the first half and scored their second try to level the scores. Maria Tshiremba scored her second try with a brilliant effort to secure a 19-14 lead with seconds to go in the second half. A try by Ayanda Malinga after time was up secured the Springbok Women's Sevens a 26-14 win.
The Springbok Women's Sevens will face the USA at 06:14 (SA Time) in the ninth-place final on Sunday morning.
