Grey College showed why they are unbeaten for more than 1000 days against a Welkom Gim team that is not as bad as the score suggest. The 2020 version of the Grey 1stXV will have some quality opposition in a year where the competition at the top will be very close, however, to beat this team they will have to be very special.
Grey College scored the first points of the day within the first three minutes of the game and they just kept on scoring. It took Welkom Gim 38 minutes to score their first points, however, Grey College lead 38-7 at the halftime break.
The second half was a more even affair with both teams giving the ball a lot of air. Welkom Gim had the last say when they scored a try in the final seconds of the game to lose 33-69 in a match where defence was not on the mind of many.
Welkom Gim have some big boys and if you allow them to run at you, you will regret it, unfortunately for them, Grey College's talent and speed were more they could handle. Grey College has speed to spare and if any team have a hope in hell to beat them they will have to starve the backline from quality ball.
