It has been confirmed that mr Hans Coetzee was asked to resign by HTS Drostdy. Mr Coetzee was appointed as Director of Rugby at HTS Drostdy in December 2021 replacing Sylvester Booysen who recently accepted an appointment at Eldoraigne in Pretoria as their new Head of Sport.
The decision was made following a process where the success of Drostdy HTS on the rugby field and Hans Coetzee's general contribution to the development of rugby at Drostdy were evaluated by his fellow coaches with a "breach of trust" the ultimate reason given for the termination of his contract.
Coetzee is widely credited as one of the better schoolboy rugby coaches in South Africa. Hans coached Monnas for several years and more recently was in charge at Durbanville. Apart from coaching schoolboy rugby Hans also coached the Lions' provincial teams.
The principal Mr Louis Steijn did not react yet to WhatsApp messages sent to confirm the facts.
