Hanekom Working Hard To Improve And Not To Make “Silly” Mistakes

Vodacom Bulls loosie, Cameron Hanekom said on Tuesday at a media interview that despite several injuries in recent times, he will always give his best on the field and continue working hard to improve his "game".

"Every game, you’re going to get bumps and bruises. Some of them are harder than others."

"Getting into the back end of the United Rugby Championship competition, I am trying to focus on recovery a lot and try and get the body ready for every weekend."

"You never know when it’s your last game, so you have to go out there at every opportunity you get and do your absolute best."

"If I get injured in a game, I must know that I at least gave it my all and there are no regrets."

On improving his "game" Hanekom said that he made silly mistakes in the past but is working daily to improve.

"You only get a split second to decide whether to go for it or to fold to keep width on defence."

"I’ve made some silly mistakes in the past when I went into too many rucks and didn’t get rewarded for it. When I do go into a ruck, I have the confidence to give it my absolute best. I can’t go into it half half."

"If I play with a guy like Marcell Coetzee, who makes 31 tackles in a game, then I need to raise my game so I don’t disappoint him. He’s a good role model."

"Tackling has been my biggest work on. There were a couple of games where I wasn’t good enough in that area, and I’ve worked hard to be more consistent."
