A wet and cold day awaited the boys from Menlopark when they visited Glenwood for a day of schoolboy rugby. Menlopark started like a runaway train and was controlling everything that mattered on the field. The first try Glenwood was due to two costly mistakes from the boys of Menlopark. The half time score was 12-0 in the favour of Glenwood with cracks starting to show in the defence of Menlopark. The second half Glenwood continued their physical onslaught and their backs sometimes surprising everybody with their slick handling in the worsening weather. Glenwood eventually send their visitors back to Pretoria with a cold and a loss of 39-0
DHS managed to win the game with a late penalty just before the final whistle. The game was played in torrential rains and gale force winds putting an end to any hope of attractive rugby. All DHS points came from the boot of Lwandile Menze but Kearsney thought they won the game five minutes before the end when their scrum half scored to gave them the lead 11-9. DHS used their hard running forwards to earn the late penalty that saved the day.
In a very dull and scrappy game, Hilton managed to beat Westville by two penalties to one winning 6-3 and Maritzburg College send Michaelhouse back home with a 31-42 loss.
