Pretoria Boys High hosted Garsfontein in a local pre-season friendly match on Saturday which was played with shortened 30 min halves. Garsfontein dominated the play to convincingly beat Boys High 31-00.
The game started at a fast pace in very hot and somewhat humid conditions. Garsfontein with the much bigger and heavier pack of forwards dominated the scrums and forward play from the onset. This provided a good base for their fast-paced backline to play from, which looked very dangerous at times however handling errors marred some of their scoring opportunities.
Garsfontein's forward domination and attacking phase play kept Boys High in their half for most of the game, which allowed the backline and forwards to score well-worked tries.
Boys High in turn managed to absorb a lot of the pressure and they gained good territory at times with well-structured play however, handling errors at critical times on attack let them down. In the end, they just did not have enough firepower to counter Garsfontein.
