Garsfontein Hoërskool confirmed the appointment of Sylvester Booysen as their Director of Coaching - Rugby.
Booysen will start on 01 January 2023. Booysen is an accomplished coach with a brilliant record as Director of Rugby/Sport at several prominent schools.
Booysen's appointment is a clear warning to the top rugby-playing schools in South Africa that Garsfontein is serious to develop their junior teams to the same high standard at which their 1stXV were performing for the past few years.
Booysen said that he is excited to once again coach at a top rugby school. Garsfontein is one of only two schools that was invited to the 2023 Wildeklawer Tournament and is a regular at the Noord/Suid Rugby Festival. Both Festivals are acknowledged as of the best in South Africa.
Booysen also said that he is excited and determined to develop the junior teams of Garsfontein to the same level as the 1st XV.
According to the principal of Garsfontein, mr Leon Bantjies, Booysen was selected from a list of applicants that included several top coaches, including international coaches.
"We are excited to welcome Booysen at Garsies and are looking forward to witnessing his influence on our already successful rugby program," said Leon Bantjies.
