The NoordVaal Cup will see the final league matches this weekend, however, two of the three matches will be very important for the teams with Monnas and Waterkloof to fight it out for the last place in the semi-final playoffs. In Boksburg EG Jansen will host Garsfontein in a match that will determine who will be placed 1st or 2nd. Both teams will host the semi-finals next weekend, hopefully. Helpmekaar have already booked their place in the semi-final playoffs.
Marais Viljoen vs Noordheuwel
Noordheuwel had some bad luck a could well have been in the semi-final playoffs next weekend following a draw to Waterkloof and two points losses to Garsfontein and EG Jansen. Although Marais Viljoen tested Waterkloof a week ago going down 33-38 at Waterkloof, Noordheuwel should be able to end the season with a smile on their faces.
Waterkloof vs Monnas (Premier Interschools)
Monument has had a busy season so far playing 17 games in all. They had very good early wins over Paul Roos and Boland Landbou, but seem to blow hot and cold sometimes. They had disappointing losses against Welkom Gimnasium and Jeppe and should have clinched both those matches. It seems as if they are gaining momentum in the Noordvaal Cup competition and after a very close game against Garsfontein, they have won their last two matches comfortably. Waterkloof played fewer matches in comparison but is having a stellar season so far playing 12 matches, winning nine with two losses and a draw. They had memorable wins against Oakdale, Glenwood and Nelspruit, while only losing to a strong Garsfontein (currently ranked No 3) and EG Jansen. Monnas had the better final stretch to this match and should be able to earn a place in the semi-finals. Monnas need a bonus point win to secure a third place while a win will secure Waterkloof's third place.
EG Jansen vs Garsfontein
Both EG Jansen and Garsfontein are unbeaten in the NoorVaal Cup, EG Jansen is on a seven-match unbeaten streak and their only "disappointment" was their close win against Noordheuwel, 31-29, a week ago. Garsfontein only loss the season was against Grey College and although they played five matches less than EG Jansen they should be the favourites, however, Garsfontein is missing a few players due to injuries and, admittingly, EG Jansen is seemingly peaking at the exact right minute. The winner of this epic clash will end at the top of the log, securing a home semi-final and possibly a final, while the loser will secure a home semi-final.
