SARU had a meeting with the CEO's of the Unions last week and apparently, they will put the stamp on the decisions made last week today.
According to our information:
a) The "Franchise Cup" will be played from the end of February until the start of the Pro 14 middle April 2021. The eight teams to compete in the "Franchise Cup" will be the Bulls, Cheetahs, Eastern Province Kings, Griquas, Lions, Pumas, Sharks and Western Province.
b) If the Rainbow Cup continue, the four South African teams will play each other before travelling will start between the Pro12 franchises and the four South African teams.

c) The proposed SA Cup where all the SA Unions would have played will be cancelled. The reason for the SA Cup was to establish the top three provinces to join the Bulls, Cheetahs, Lions, Sharks and Western Province in the Currie Cup.
d) Hopefully if the Rainbow Cup continue a new competition will be announced for the rest of South Africa's Unions. But apparently not.
e) The SARU u/20 Championship which was supposed to start in February for the first round and July for the second round will be reduced to only one round from the of end August. A strong possibility will be that Ellispark may again play host for a "Craven Week" style competition as was the case with the u/21's in 2020.
