Emirates Lions Will Give Attention To Their Defence And Discipline Before Saturday

The Lions face the Stormers in round 8 of the URC on Saturday, with the Pride pulling out of a three-match slump with a 43-35 win over Pau at Ellis Park. Despite the win, Fourie demands more from his side in this weekend’s derby against the DHL Stormers in Cape Town.

"We want to get back to winning ways, the way that the Lions play, the way that we played the two games before we left overseas. We showed a little bit of that again against PAU on Saturday."

"We are not going to stray from the way we want to play. We will run with the ball and play in the right areas of the field; nothing is going to change for us. Last year when we played against the Stormers there were glimpses of what we want to show in Cape Town on Saturday."

" For us, it's just to incorporate the kicking into that running style. Sometimes, in certain areas of the field, you need to put a kick in to put pressure back on them again. We must get better at reading the situations."

Fourie said they will be giving extra attention to their defence that was leaking several tries against them.

"The last few weeks have been disappointing with the amount of tries we have conceded against Leinster, Munster, Ospreys and Pau."

"Individual errors have cost us, especially our discipline. If you give the opposition penalty opportunities, they are going to kick for the corner and maul. It has been very disappointing, This week, we want to get back to how we started the season, with a solid defence."

"It was important to get back to the Lions way with a win against Pau, we don’t have any excuses for our losses in the previous couple of weeks."
