During a media interview, Emirates Lions backline coach Ricardo Laubscher admitted that they are still looking for the correct balance to combine their powerful pack of forwards with an exciting and talented backline.
"We want to play to our strengths, but also at the same time, we realise that you can not be predictable. So we need to find a balance between attacking with our forwards and also we have a great backline," said Laubscher.
"We realised that we need to keep the teams honest, especially if we go into our opponents 22. Teams realised that we use our forwards quite a bit, hopefully, this weekend we can add some variation to our attack."
EW Viljoen added that it takes a big adjustment to counter the European way of playing. According to him, the European teams' tactical kicking of their opponents is challenging.
He further stressed that to counter this tactic he does have to adapt his normal attacking mindset with the ball in hand, however, stressed that the Lions' gameplan will always be more important than his personal preferences on the attack.
