Emirates Lions Looking To Get Back To Their Way Of Playing Rugby

Emirates Lions forward coach, Julian Redelinghuys said despite expecting a physical game against Montpellier on Saturday at 19:30 (SA Time) at the GGL Stadium, they will be looking to return to the Lions' way of playing rugby.

Asked what can be expected from Montpellier, Redelinghuys said it will be a physical match with the Lions' defence to be tested.

"They're quite a physical team, big forwards. They're a team with a lot of attack so we expect a running game from them but also a quite well-balanced game with a lot of kicking as well."

"With Springboks in Cobus Reinach, Nicolaas Janse van Rensburg and Jan Serfontein in their squad adding Madosh Tambwe who is potentially a Springbok, it makes it tough. They are a well-balanced team, just those guys mentioned and then they have other international players as well. So they have quality players, and it will be a really good challenge for us."

"I think their international players who know how to play in the right areas and can manage the game will make it a very good challenge for us, but we're excited. They are a well-rounded team, very well coached and will be a good challenge for us."

"Obviously, we're a South African team and we pride ourselves on our physicality, so yeah, we won't just go there to match whatever they bring. We want to dominate in every facet of the game."

Redelinghuys said it will be their focus against Montpellier to return to winning ways.

"Looking back, the last time we played against Munster, there were those lapses of concentration and decision-making."

"When we got back on Thursday, just after New Year's, we were just focusing on us. Getting back to setting up ourselves for good performance and getting back into the flow of things. Doing what we want to do, getting back to our identity. how we want to play and how we want to be seen."

"We didn't even look at Montpellier. It was just focusing on where we are, what we're doing, how we can improve. The last two days of prep were more Montpellier-focused."
