In the other top match-ups in the U18 Coca-Cola Craven Week the Enrista Blue Bulls produced a sensational showing against the Bizhub Free State to power their way to a 74-8 victory. The Blue Bulls’ forwards and backs combined well, while they created try-scoring opportunities at will and rounded them off, which allowed them to control the match from start to end. This paid off as they crashed over the chalk a staggering 12 times, while the Free State scored all eight of their points in the first half.
One could only speculate why the Blue Bulls team, loaded with stars, again disappointed at the Craven Week. Calls for the heads of the coaches is made and serious questions must be asked. Personally I could not understand the rational of picking Regardt du Plessis as fetcher and Phillip Krause at seven, when you do not utilize these boys as a combination. Only in the last match we were allowed this pleasure. And what spectacular results did this deliver, three tries was scored due to turn overs by du Plessis and Krause could display his natural talent scoring an excellent try. Cabous Eloff was also hidden and only allowed to play his natural game in the last game against the Free State. One can only speculate why this was allowed to happen.

In the U18 Coca-Cola Craven Week the Golden Lions defeated the Blue Bulls in the final match of the day as their forwards and backs combined well to outplay to their Gauteng neighbours. The Blue Bulls discipline was poor and they conceded four yellow cards during the match, which did not help their cause.
They were denied an early try due to a knock-on on the tryline, but they were forced onto the back-foot for the rest of the half as the Lions created point-scoring chances and used them well to out-score the Bulls two tries to one, while they added two penalty goals for a 20-7 lead. The Blue Bulls tried hard to force their way back into the match in the second half, but the effective Lions attack combined with the Blue Bulls’ struggle to break through the defence regularly and mistakes at crucial times, resulted in the Pretoria side going down 41-14.
Lions centre Wandisile Simelane was again instrumental in the victory as he touched down twice and added five penalties and two penalties for a personal tally of 26 points.

The Blue Bulls got their clash against Border off to a flying start as they ran hard on attack, which earned them three tries in the first 27 minutes. They supported this with a solid defensive effort, and limited Border to scoring only a penalty in the first half, for a 19-3 lead. Border, however, showed their fighting spirit as they scored two tries in two minutes almost immediately after the break to force their way back into the match. Both teams showed intent on attack as the match progressed, but while the Pretoria side converted their chances to score four more tries, unforced handling errors denied Border from adding to their score. This forced them to settle for a 48-15 defeat.
