Duane Vermeulen Possibly Ends Evan Roos’ Season With A Croc-Roll

DHL Stormers head coach, John Dobson admitted the injury to Evan Roos could be a season-ending injury after Roos was forced off the field in their 05-35 loss against Ulster with a suspected MCL injury.

Unfortunately for Roos, his return from a rib injury lasted 23 minutes before he limped off the field after he was croc-rolled out of the ruck by Springbok Duane Vermeulen, while Ulster flank Nick Timoney also joined the clean-out.

John Dobson speculated that Roos’ season might be over. “I’m still not 100% sure what the extent of the injury is, but it’s not a small one,” Dobson said at the post-match interview.

“He will be gone for a while, unfortunately, It was a horrible croc-roll and he rolled out with a nasty injury. Not sure if it’s a knee ligament rupture of the grain.”

“Evan is on crutches but I hope it does not affect his international aspirations. However, I will be surprised if he plays for the Stormers again.”

The Stormers were severely affected by several injuries during the week and the match against Ulster.

Junior Pokomela and Clayton Blommetjies were withdrawn just before the match. Pokomela was withdrawn due to precautions around the concussion he suffered against London Irish in Brentford, while Blommetjies suffered a groin strain.

During the early minutes of the match hooker, JJ Kotze was stretchered off after a head clash, while flyhalf Jean-Luc du Plessis also left the field in the first half with a "substantial concussion."

“Our injury list is getting big right now, but I don’t know enough at this point to talk about getting in reinforcements.

“Neethling Fouche, Gary Porter, Deon Fourie and Hacjivah Dayimani will return next week. while Manie Libbok and Paul De Wet are in Cape Town, and Seabelo Senatla will be back this week so we don’t need any reinforcements at this stage."
