The Dragons RFC proved to be too strong for the Newcastle Falcons securing a 22-14 win on Sunday in a Round 2 match of the EPCR Challenge Cup.
After a point-less opening quarter of an hour, it was Rodrigo Martinez Manzano who got to break the deadlock for the Dragons.
A penalty and a conversion later from Angus O’Brien saw the visitors into a 0-10 lead before Adam Radwan got Falcons back in it to reduce the Dragons lead to 10-07 at the halftime break.
Keen to turn things around after the break, Newcastle were the first to strike through Alex Hearne.
But this only seemed to fire up the Dragons even more, with Aaron Wainwright hitting straight back to regain the lead.
Another Welsh try just before the hour mark, courtesy of Huw Anderson put distance between the sides.
This Dragons 22-14 win sets them in good stead having claimed a defensive bonus point last week ahead of the return to action in January.
