DHL Western Province scored seven tries on their way to a 47-28 win against NovaVit Griffons in their Currie Cup encounter at DHL Stadium on Saturday.
It was back to winning ways for DHL Western Province against a willing NovaVit Griffons outfit in an entertaining match.
The visitors were first to score when outside centre Carl-Jan Coetzee made the most of a kind bounce to go through a gap for the opening try.
DHL Western Province responded with a try of their own from wing Angelo Davids, who burst over after a strong maul from the forwards.
The home side hit the front for the first time when fullback Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu finished a fine solo effort.
The visitors took the lead back with a try from centre Marquit September, but it was DHL Western Province who took a 19-14 lead into the half-time break as No.8 Keke Morabe went over from a maul in the final stages of the first half.
DHL Western Province had the bonus point wrapped up early in the second half as skipper Juan de Jongh pounced on a loose ball to score.
To their credit, the NovaVit Griffons kept pressing and they got right back in it with a second try from September.
Morabe made it a double when he bashed his way over from close range, but the NovaVit Griffons refused to go away and responded with their fourth try to secure a bonus point.
Davids made the game safe for DHL WP with his second try and they capped it off with a late try from lock Ruben van Heerden to seal a comfortable win in the end.
