DHL Western Province outplayed the Cell C Sharks 44-05 on Saturday. The Cell C Sharks will host the Airlink Pumas in Durban in a Currie Cup semi-final on Saturday coming.
Jurie Matthee converted two early penalties for DHL Western Province to lead 06-00 after three minutes of play.
Ben-Jason Dixon controlled a dropped ball by the Cell C Sharks to score the DHL Western Province's first try. The Cell C Sharks' "sloppy" play was their biggest enemy at this stage.
The DHL Western Province continued to apply relentless pressure on the Cell C Sharks tryline for the first twenty-five minutes of play in the first half. Marcel Theunissen took a quick tap from a penalty and scored the second try for the hosts to extend their lead to 20-00.
Hacjivah Dayimani scored a late try for the DHL Western Province to extend their lead to 25-00 which was also the halftime score.
The DHL Western Province continued their dominance with a second try from Hacjivah Dayimani extending their lead to 32-00 after just six minutes of play in the second half.
Although the Cell C Sharks started to get their hands on attacking ball, mistakes kept them from scoring any points after fifteen minutes of play in the second half. However, the hosts are scoring almost at will with Ruben van Heerden scoring their fifth try. The DHL Western Province's brilliant interplay running the defence of the unwilling Cell C Sharks to pieces.
Jarrod Taylor added the host's sixth try to extend DHL Western Province's lead to 44-00. A consolation try was scored by Marnus Potgieter to open the Cell C Sharks account after the time was up. The DHL Western Province win 44-05 against a hapless Cell C Sharks who will host the Airlink Pumas in Durban in a Currie Cup semi-final.
