DHL Western Province may have secured their place in the Carling Currie Cup playoffs, but there will be no shortage of motivation when they take on the Cell C Sharks in their final league fixture at DHL Newlands on Saturday.
A win against the Cell C Sharks will see Western Province move to a minimum of 39 points on the log, which will be enough to secure a home semi-final for Western Province. A loss, however, could see Western Province drop to either 3rd or 4th spot on the log which will then depend on other results to determine against whom they will play in the semi-final away from home.
Head Coach John Dobson said that his team will be highly motivated when they face the Durban side on Saturday, as they seek to ensure that this is not the last game they play at DHL Newlands.
“The first thing was to play in the semifinals, I think that applies to every team and we have got that done. Now we have to determine the venue.
“It is a good reflection of the effort the players have put in that we are in a position to determine the venue in next week’s game. It is not like we are scraping in fourth, we will decide where the semifinal is played next Saturday.
“We are really looking forward to that game, playing at DHL Newlands. It is quite powerful, our motivation is to make sure that next Saturday is not the last game at DHL Newlands and I think you are going to find us responding well to that,” he said.
