DHL Western Province Head Coach Jerome Paarwater says that his team can’t wait for their next opportunity to turn things around in the Carling Currie Cup.
Having suffered a frsutrating 22-20 defeat against Tafel Lager Griquas in Kimberley last week, DHL Western Province now have an agonising three-week wait before their next fixture.
Currently in sixth position on the standings, Paarwater’s team are desperate to start climbing the log by putting in some convincing performances.
Despite dominating territory and possession in Kimberley, they were let down by their finishing, which Paarwater says will be a big work-on over the coming weeks.
“We had a lot of opportunities that we didn’t take, I’m not sure if it was a lack of concentration but we wasted a few chances on their tryline.
“I think we need to focus more when we are in the opposition 22 and play with more patience to control the game better.
“The work-ons for us is our game management in the opposition 22, we have been struggling for two games with that.
“One of the positives for us was that we never gave up, I think in the first half our set-pieces were quite good,” he said.
With three weeks before their next assignment against the table-topping Toyota Cheetahs, Paarwater added that there is some hard work ahead for his charges.
“The most frustrating part is that we have to wait three weeks to correct our mistakes. We would have loved to have played again this week to get a bit of continuity, but it also gives us some time to work hard on where we went wrong.
“Although we have lost three games, we are still in there and we are looking forward to the next game,” he said.
