The DHL Stormers hosted the Vodacom Bulls in Cape Town for the first of two key local Vodacom United Rugby Championship derbies. It was a very tightly contested arm wrestle with the Stormers just pipping the Bulls 19-17.
The first half saw both teams engaged in a tough battle, especially at the breakdowns with no team wanting to give away much. The Stormers managed to take the lead with a brilliant try scored in extra time of the half.
The Bulls drew the first blood of the first half with a try but the Stormers started to force the Bulls to concede penalties which they managed to convert into points to take a 6 point lead. The Bulls fought back with a late converted try but it was too little too late.

50:50 The Bulls scored a sensational try after Zak Burger made a midfield break and passed the ball to the supporting players Cornal Hendricks and Canan Moodie right on his heels with Canan Moodie scoring in the corner. Converted by Chris Smith (10-10).
