Day 4 – u/18 Craven Week – Match Reports And Results

The Craven Week action will continue on Thursday morning, with Griquas meeting the Limpopo Blue Bulls at 10h30 in the first game of the day, with the last encounter a Gauteng derby between the Lions and Bulls.

U18 Craven Week Day Four Fixtures:

Golden Lions 34-44 Blue Bulls
The Golden Lions were the dominant side in the first half. However, mistakes made by the Golden Lions under pressure gave two easy tries to the Blue Bulls who led 21-12 at the halftime break. The Blue Bulls started the second half like a house on fire and added three unanswered tries and two converted penalties before the Golden Lions scored their first points of the second half. The Blue Bulls led 44-17 with twelve minutes left to play in the second half. Despite the Golden Lions' best efforts scoring three tries during the last ten minutes, and two yellow cards reducing the Blue Bulls to thirteen players on the field the Blue Bulls deservedly won 44-34.

Griffons 50-12 Leopards
The first half was an even arm wrestle with the Leopards taking the lead late in the first half with a converted penalty to lead 12-10 at the halftime break. The Griffons dominated the second half and scored almost at will to win 50-12.

Border 31-21 Pumas
The Border were the "dominant" side and led 14-07 at the halftime break, however, both sides were willing to spread the ball wide at every opportunity. Exciting rugby was played by two evenly matched teams.

Griquas 38-38 Limpopo Blue Bulls
Limpopo Blue Bulls started like a house on fire and scored two early tries to lead 14-00 after ten minutes of play. However, Griquas absorbed the initial pressure and led 28-21 at the halftime break. Griquas continued their champagne rugby in the second half and scored an early try to extend their lead to 33-21. However, Limpopo Bulls scored two tries to take a 38-33 lead. Griquas scored a try late in the second half to level the score at 38-38.
