Connacht Rugby A Timely Wake-Up Call For DHL Stormers

John Dobson said the DHL Stormers were lucky to bank the five points, however, they risk missing the Vodacom URC playoffs if they don’t learn from the team’s “worst defensive performance in years.”

"We are not happy. That was a very poor performance, and we are not going to beat Benetton if we play like that."

"We deserved to lose that game, to be honest, you’re not going to go far in this tournament if you defend like that. They opened us up at will, I thought we’d lost the game and to be honest, I thought we deserved to lose."

"We’re a team that prides itself on defence. That’s probably the worst defensive performance in years."

“I don’t know what’s wrong with our defence at the moment. Connacht are the best-attacking team, statistically, in the competition. But that doesn’t account for what we did there; slow off the line, lack of tackle fight."

"In many ways, it was the best and worst of the Stormers all wrapped into one game. Our attacking game was at times brilliant, but our defence was nowhere, and we also again let ourselves down with indiscipline at times."

"It’s going to be an interesting change room now because either we change, or we go play three more home games, and that’s going to be it."

"I suppose you could say it works out for us that we had this scare now, as now there will be no illusions that our remaining three games will be easy. For months, we’ve spoken about how much we were looking forward to this sequence of four home games, but today was a wakeup call and a reminder that none of these games are a given."
